To create music, technology has been incorporated to aid creators in the generation and sharing of music. Tascam DR-680 is one piece of equipment that will improve the way you create and share music. The DR-680 is a 6-way analog channel recorder connected to microphones or other equipment for further use. The box uses a -20db input, which is great when working with sounds on the louder end of the spectrum. The Tascam DR-680 can power two mics at the same time despite its small size.
The unit has a sensitive record function, and it will begin recording almost immediately you hit the button. The pause function is also quite solid as it will allow you to pause recording for an indefinite amount of time (unlike most that fall out of pause record after an extended period). The pause function is also pretty solid if you need a machine that reacts quickly and it also has a pre-record function. The pre-amps are quite decent and produce okay sound quality, although the box is still quite analog. It will serve you well if you intend to use the box for web, cable TV or corporate productions.
Lowcut are present and can be set to 60, 80, or 120Hz, while the firmware can be updated from the original Tascam website. This upgradable process makes it easier for you to protect the box against malware or other bad actors that may damage the box. Limiters are present to help manage the sound levels when recording with the box. The limiters work fairly well but will not save you if you record sounds at high levels for extended periods. The box has one knob, multiple control systems, and if you would like better knob control, you will need to buy a mixer. The more channels you need to switch through, the less the knobs will work efficiently.
